Burn 5 discs then get errors - failures

I'm having erratic behavior from DSP4. I burned about 12 discs but I was also printing labels. When my ink ran out I opened Epson disc utility to find out which color was out and it crashed DSP. When I rebooted the subsequent discs I burned all failed.
After a lot of dead ends I re-encoded the project and replaced the AV tracks and did a new build and away I went until about the 6th disc then all I get are "Not supported disc type" messages from my dvd player.
Now I'm getting "illegal request Session fixation error- incomplete track session (0x72, 0X03) just during the writing lead out data (wouldn't it have to do it at the end of a 45 minute burn) . I'm burning dual layer with 7.6GB of project size. I've also gotten an improper layer break error even though I've used the same break point from the get go.
I've tried fuji DL 2.4 speed discs and Memorex DL 2.4-8 speed discs and it does it with both types.
OS 10.4.11; FCS 5.1.4; DSP 4.1.2; QT 7.4.5
Any ideas?

Rennie,
A more reliable workflow is to format a disc image with DVDSP and do the actual burning using Apple's Disc Utility. DVDSP has never been, at least not for me, a very good program to do anything except build the DVD. If you're not sure how to create a DVD disc image go here:

Hi Don
Thanks for the advice, it has helped immensely. Although my file was corrupt I was able to copy a previously burned disc to create the disc image. I did the routine for the second program with out problems.
I've tried this with toast's disc copy but always get a dead end with some in-compatible files. Disc utility works like a charm.
