This was a bad one, today I got a call from a client from a convention centre telling me the DVD i made them would not work on their DVD player hooked up to a projector. Bad news.
But it works fine on my Mac. And when i tested it on my own DVD player just now, it does not play.

I burnt directly from DVD Studio Pro. Is this not the right thing to do?
I was using Mpeg 2 Files and aiff. that I exported from FCP using compressor. Imported them into DVD Studio Pro then burnt a DVD, which worked fine on my mac but not on any DVD players.
Eventually, I had to export a quicktime file and use toast to burn it, but I dont want to always burn using toast, beacuse I cant create the menus etc. that i want, and since i paid through the teeth for FCP studio, i want everything to work!

What bit rate did you encode the video at.
Since you used AIFF instead of AC3 for the audio, you need to be very conservative about the bit rate. Many DVD players will crap out if you use uncompressed audio and a high bit rate for the video (above 7, but sometimes even lower).

I would set to export to compressor. Then with the compressor window open choose the mpeg2 setting necessary after figuring out your bit budget. Then add the Ac3 setting as well and set it to either 192k or 224k.
But yes you want to have the elementary streams (mpeg2 file and audio separate) created before authoring.
