mediocre quality DVDs from DVD Studio Pro

I have a FCP project that I output in a non-self contained QT movie.I have brought it into DVD Studio Pro and using the simulator everything looks very good and high quality. The problem arises when I tell it to burn the project. The resulting DVD is in a noticeably lower video quality than was was seen on the simulator.

This project is 12:23 in length and I have set to VBR at 6MBS.

What is most noticeable is that when viewing a still image on the burned DVD it cycles from being extremely sharp to being slightly blurred in a bout 1/2 second intervals. Looking at that same image in the DVD Studio Pro simulator, this flickering or cycling does not occur and the image is perfect for it's entire on screen duration.

I know that I must have a setting wrong, but I can't find which one.
