DL Break Point - Problem/Question
by aazz44 on Aug 30, 2007 at 10:03:25 pm
Recently I've been getting some complaints from my customers that their DVD starts to Pixelize / Break-up on the point the DVD switches layers. Some people even claim the DVD stops all together at the break point.
Not all of the DVD - 9's I sell do this. But it does seem like the complaints have increased.
I master all the DVD's on DLT, and than send those to the Replicator. I also chose my own breakpoint and make sure the "Seamless" option is unchecked.
I contacted my Replicator about the problem and they say its on my end. I've been making DL DVD's with Studio Pro for about 3 years and have just recently started to experience this many problems. After researching some more on this issue I read that DVDSP has problems with the breakpoint, making it "Seamless" even if you do not choose it. I also downloaded "myDVDEdit' a debugging software. In there I found some chapters have the "Seamless" option checked. Why is this?
Some chapters are "Seamless" and others are not?
Im confused and annoyed by this problem, and wold like to get it fixed before I author anymore DL DVD's.

Hey Eric. I had a chat with my Replicator. Turns out that the Glass master is made in one location, than sent to the Replicator for stamping. After talking to both of them i never really got an answer on what the problem was. Just an offer to send me some replacements for free, which doesn't do me any good until i find out the problem.
I was also looking back on some of my older DL DVD's and found the same kind of 'Seamless' markings. Some chapters have it others do not. The difference is that I never received any problems from those older discs. They were also done by another replicator. This is why i tend to think the problem isn't so much in the Authoring but the Replicator.
Now im just looking for anymore info that can help me out.
