project to large for single layer disk
by adamdodd on Nov 16, 2006 at 10:43:24 am

HI Guys,

My source file is a PAL dv quicktime that is 1 hour and 25 mins. I have encoded the file in compressor as an mpeg 2 5.0 mbps which was a preset in compressor for a timeline of up to 120 min. My source file is 85 min. Once imported into DSP I have had an error saying the project is to large for the single layer dvd I am trying to put it on. I already had an encoded version of the file that was made in DSP at the default SD settings, 4.0 mbps I beleive, so I put that back on my timeline and am still getting the same error message.

Any suggestions to help sort this are appreciated.

Thanks, Adam.

What version of DVDSP are you using?

Do you have the little "disc meter" icon that shows how full your project is?
What does that say?

Are you sure you haven't duplicated any media in any tracks.... for instance, maybe you've got the video in there twice by accident?

Try importing the video into a NEW project and see if you get the same warning.
Delete the PAR folder before so.... to force DVDSP to create new parse files.

oh.... make sure you haven't dragged your video into a MENU by accident too.

Good luck with your project.

I am using V 4.1.1

The space meter is maxed out and reads 8.6 gb.

In my assest folder I am only seeing the video and audio in there once, same on the timeline, so I assume I have not doubled up on them. My menus are psd files but are only around 450 k each and there are seven of them.

Ok, just started a new project and the space meter is at 4.3 gb. I am trying to recompress the audio track in compressor as an ACC to get that a little smaller.

Is there a way to copy all my buttons, chapeter markers ect into this new project if this works ?? Or do I need to reimport my new audio track into my old one and make changes to it to get it working ??

Compressed the audio, got it down to 73mb, dropped the vid file to a new project timeline, the meter read 3.4gb, then the new audio track now it reads 4.3 ? How can I have added an extra gig when I added a 73 mb file ??

Don't worry too much about what the disc meter says... apparently it's not very accurate.
I've had it tell me my project was 5GB and DVDSP would still build the job.
The final disc fit on a DVD-R and everything was fine.

So, maybe try to build your disc and check the file size of the finished product.

Also.... might want to think about downgrading DVDSP to version 4.0.3
Many people are complaining about 4.1 and 4.1.1
