Interesting point, but it doesn't happen when I just have one track looping over again - is it the length of the track? the random code? Also, will it vary with different DVD players? The one i'm using is a real cheapy, built into a TV, but maybe a really good one might work better?

If I understand its because you have that "loop" 5 times in a track one after another. Am I on the right path here? A player needs to stop and refocus its laser when it hits the end of a track.

Also, since last message, I tried another piece which had about 19 short tracks and a Random Play: that worked fine with one exception in, say, 20 goes when it suddenly did a 2-second blackout while deciding which track to play, but it chopped off the last bit of the soundtrack of most of the tracks - even though the sound didn't finish at the same point as the video!
Also, with the other problem, the end jump still shows a flicker on the simulator mode in DVD studio so I'm not entirely sure its the laser.
cheers Eric and if anyone else out there has any thoughts please let me know!
