 | Please Help! My dvds don't work!
by emitphemit on Jan 22, 2006 at 1:47:03 am |
i am trying to create some DVDs with DVD studio Pro 4 of about 1.5 hours....created in final Cut 5 and using compressor (MPEG2 120minSD option) Very simple . I am using modified template and I am happy with the simulation, but the actual burned DVDs do not work. The Bit rate of the 3 1/2 hour clips are about 3-4 Mbps.
They crash all the computers I have tried them on when scrolling through chapter marks. Someone suggested to move around chapter marks but that makes no sense to me and seems very arbitrary.
Does anyone have any advice before i have to resort to random nonsensical changes?
Please help! I feel like I am reinventing the wheel.
thanks,
emy

Little more info please. Do they play from beginning to end and only crash when chapter marks are called? Can you describe the behavior of the discs? Have you reimported or re-encoded your Mpeg-2 files? How did you modify the template? Have you made an image and burned that separately? Have you changed disk stock? Just some ideas.
Hope this helps-

Thanks for the advice! It was very helpful. I tried different media and also tried burning it on a different external drive and now the discs work! I am thankful but i am also trying to understand why....Do you think the DVD burner in my computer is bad? or not compatible with Studio Pro 4?
I have a G-5 from about 2003 with the
PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D
and my ext. drive is a newer. LA Cie from 2005.
Do you think that was the Problem?
thanks again for the response.

I burn all my stuff on an AO4 and an AO6. Media and programing are typically to blame. If it crashes computers and not set top boxes it tends to be the programing of the disc. If it crashes set top boxes and not computers it's the media, generally.
Hope this helps-

Is AO4 and AO6 the name of a type of DVD hardware or is it the name of software?
