Aspect ratio for menu
by normco on Nov 20, 2005 at 6:53:03 pm

Hi,

What is the correct aspect ratio for DVD Studio Pro.

In the past I have attempted to use 720x540 and had some issues with the look of the graphic.

720x480 seems to work the best.

Which is correct?

Thanks

NORMCO

Normco,
Use NTSC pref which is 720x480 SD. If using PAL preset is 720x576 SD. Don't customize.
Aspect ratio is the same for menu items as it is for track items in a project.
Now when importing assets that have been converted to mpeg2 in Compressor (or other software) you may have seen the aspect ratio as different to these, and caused your question. Just ignore this (QT is reading it as square pixels) and complete authoring and build.
For graphics, do you mean titles or stills? How are you creating them? Same principles apply.
Alexander
