Maximum compatability between different computers and players

I don't normally worry about this much, but a client is asking for this and I'm not sure the best way. I usually just use 60 minute best quality and set the range between 5 and 7.5.
There is very little movement in my 15 minute video, all taking heads.
My source movies are 8 bit uncompressed, and I will most likely use Compression Master 3 to make the m2vs. It has 3 presets, 3, 5 and 7mbs single pass. Would the lowest one be the best to use?
I also have Squeeze 4.1, but I find it adds a lot of saturation to the m2vs and there arent any filters I could find, and Compressor 2 is awfully slow and then there's always QT. I could use a little advice on this, using DVDSP3.

for talking heads, lower rates can be used successfully. However, to answer your question, lower rates mean less bandwidth is made available to deal with your film. Higher rates mean more is devoted to your film. So higher is better, but up to a point.
I've used 6.5 CBR quite successfully for most anything. It's a good all around bit rate. Try the 5 to 7.5 and she what you think.
