hello everyone,
i'm having difficulties while making final render of my interlaced footage from shake..i'm working with 720X576 interlaced dvPal material which are originally lover field first(even)..when i import a footage,i'm changing deinterlacing option to even in the source panel in Filein node..than make retiming under timing panel..to got a proper view in the viewer..when it's time to render i turn OutFrameInterlaced off..and go to global settings..and make FieldRendering even which was off by default..than FileOut uncompressed quicktime..i'm following that way to get interlaced lower field first output just like my original footage..but,when i open my shake rendered file into FCP,and go to item properties,it says that the field dominance is upper..(also,finalcut's item properties says upper again when i render out from AfterEffects at the same settigs and same codec)
and..worse result comes when i convert Pal interlaced to Pal deinterlaced by making retiming under timing parameter in shake..again..when i go to FCP i see strange black horizontal lines everywhere.. looking item properties..it says field dominance upper..
so confusion is..which of these programs doing wrong?..or is it quicktime codec always reordering fields?..and really wonder about the best way to render interlaced footage from shake..

i'm guessing field dominance of my pal sequence as even(lower)..because when i set deinterlacing to even into FileIn node prameters tab and set the frame Inc setting in the time bar to
0.5 and step through a group of frames, the motion looks correct..otherwise there occurs some strange stuttering..
PS; i just met that passage while reading the manual at p.197..(under field rendering settings passage)
• odd/1: Use this setting for video media with a field dominance of odd (counting
from the top) first. This is generally the setting for PAL images. In Final Cut Pro, this
setting is referred to as Lower (Even).
so..is that mean PAL upper field first images is referred to lower(even) in final cut pro??.. i really can't understand that relation..if anyone could explain,i really be glad..

DV PAL is Lower first.
[zeynep ayguler]"..when i import a footage,i'm changing deinterlacing option to even in the source panel in Filein node." Correct.
[zeynep ayguler]".than make retiming under timing panel..to got a proper view in the viewer..when it's time to render i turn OutFrameInterlaced off." Why?
If you do so you are de-interlacing your footage. Even if you set the final rendering interlaced, the clip will look Progressive.
Zeinep, you need to set "Lower First" (Even) wherever you see that option. You start with Lower First and want to end Lower First. Set it in Source Panel, in Retiming and in the Render Control.
Best,
rafael
BTW, why are you exporting with such a low quality codec as DV?
This makes sense only if you intend to print back to DV tape.
