Hey Cow, I have a question related to the role of a Shake compositor in the chain of asset creation. I'm new to Shake and come from the After Effects world where there are a number of plugins one can use to create complex things like lightning for example. As a Shake compositor, am I to expect these kinds of graphics to come from another individual using a 3d modeling program (or even after effects) that I then comp into the scene, or are these kinds of effects something I can make and am expected to make in Shake?

No... Shake isn't a motion graphics generator like After Effects. But it can... in a very limited way. Where AE can track/composite/key Shake will do it better.

It depends. You can, for example, generate lightning using Sapphire. But you don't have anything like Particle Playground to use in Shake. Most of those elements will probably come from outside of Shake.
