I've been asking that question for a while myself! Every Google search I make turns up posts that are a few years old, or have no answer. Last thing I heard is it's been called "Phenomenon", and was scheduled for release last year. So obviously that's not the case.
I'd love to hear some new news on this! And, yes! I discount for current Shake owners would be fantastic!

With Ron Birkman @ The Foundry I don't think Apple will be releasing a new compositing app. Motion is the direction they are going. If you're new to comping learn Nuke or Fusion.

he deal would probably look like: Upgrade to Phenomenon for $495 if you still have a valid Support Contract for Shake.
not likely since shakes support was killed at the same time shake was, i would like to buy into the phenomenon rumors but sadly shake is dead. Since motion and final cut gained features from shake with studio 2 its very unlikely that a new software will arise,

Im really hoping for a worthy shake replacement annonsment today. With the way apple aiming now I guess the Cut/copy/paste/undo in iphone would be their haviest tools in their pro appz.
