down convert HD24p to SD-color issue
by Yasuyoshi Kominato on Dec 1, 2008 at 1:08:03 am

Hello,

I jus' re-master a short HD movie on shake down converting it to sd for submission for short movie contest. Anyway I tried down-con, SD look much brighter and doesn't translate colors from original very well. I tried several nodes to fix the issue, yet nothing seems reliable. has anyone had worked on down converting HD 24P>SD NTSC? what would be the best work flow on that. Please share you experience!
I used file in node>convert, 24 cinema>SD NTSC and attached bytes node to translate it to 8 bit since source file is ProRes HQ>hasn't upgrade it yet... but thanx for update info on improvement over prores on shake!

Two words. Quicktime. Compressor.

You don't need SHAKE to do a down convert.
