Is apple killing Sake???

I read that apple is no longer updating Shake, and at first I didnt believe it. but now that I think about it, there were no updates with its new version of final cut studio.
I dont want to spend money on a software that's on its way to the grave, does anyone know anything about this?

Shake was never a part of FCS, it's always been a stand alone.

At only $500, Shake is an exceptionally good value. If you use it on only 1 or 2 paying jobs, it may very well pay for itself. And anyone who's running Shake on either Linux or (shudder!) Windows is running an even older version, more in the grave version.

The linux version is the same as the final Mac Version. MANY large facilities bought the source code when it was for sell for a limited time. So a place like (shudder) Zoic has the source code and can update shake all they want they just can't sell it. ILM became a mostly shake house. They also bought the source code. Somthing like 50 places bought the source code when apple was selling it. They are not allowed to release what they make with it though. So learning shake is not at all a bad idea if you plan to work in the Film world. Nuke is making Huge in roads as is Fusion. Its still mostly a Shake world in the film business.

But at $500, how can you go wrong if you have a use for it.

Don't you think that when Phenomenon f i n a l l y appears it will be called something astonishing like Shake 5? Though personally I prefer Shaky Motion Pro.

Seriously though, Apple need to show their hand soon before facilities start switching to Nuke.

...Or they are continuing to use Shake. Just because it's EOL, doesn't mean it stopped working.

I think for new users, Shakey Motion Pro would be the best option, should be included in fcs3 at no extra cost - this is why fcs is so popular, and of course keeping things user friendly would be a good move too.
