Nobody having problems exporting Unc QT?
by rafalaos on Oct 14, 2007 at 11:27:27 am

I installed Shake 4.1 in a new PowerBookpro and whenever I try to export uncompressed QT movies I just get a full screen of noise. I can export Animation or DV (I didn't try with more codecs) but no way with the Apple or Sheer Uncomressed.
I found some people with the same problem in the Apple's Shake forum. They say that this happens when you have installed FinalCut in the same Intel Mac (I have not problem in my G5). Do any body know a fix or any workaraund to this annoying problem.
Thanks in advance,
Rafael

I have not tried rendering in that codec (we mainly work in dpx image sequences), but have heard that complaint before, ...my suggestion would be to use animation codec (as it is lossless), unless you need greater colour depth, then try other codecs such as blackmagic (if running out to one of those cards in fcp) or the likes of microcosm. The old fall back (depending on how it is being output) is to just render to image sequences (such as .TIFF for bitdepths to 16bit, or for film colour ranges look into DPX, cineon, or openEXR image sequences.

Goodluck,

andrew

Hi andrew,
Thanks for you answer. I like use Sheer because you get 10b Unc YCrCb and with Alpha channel and quite small files (comparing with the Apple). Tha's great if you have to go to FC.
I guess the people of Apple are looking for the solution. Meanwhile I will probably will export Animations.
Cheers,
Rafael
