Note, if the edges seem a little too soft (even with tweaking the amount of blur) try using a median filter, ...depending on the footage it can sometimes make for a more defined edge. :-)

Thanks for the feedback Nick, I totally suck at doing these online tutorials but there seems to be a need for them so I'll do my best. I'm just waiting for the next tutorial to go online (keying). Hopefully it'll be up today.

Yes, it's a trick pretty much as old as DV (and trying to key it), ...I had a guy on the AE forum ask if it could be done in AE and I was able to easily rattle off the way to do it in there. There are even shake macro's to do similar things:
Its handy to know what the plugins are doing in case you are working at a facility that isn't running them and you have to deal with a nasty DV situation.
