Batch rendering with Qmaster

OK, I've got Qmaster up and running on three CPU's, and it seems to be working. However, there have been a couple of references on this forum about dragging shake scripts to the Qmaster "window" for batch processing, but I can't see how to do this. Which window is being referred to? The Batch Monitor window?

You drag and drop shake scripts into the QMaster client application, ...you can drag and drop as many as you like in there, then check each shots details to make sure they are okay (it will render within the range set in the render globals when you were working on the script in shake). You can also set priorities for each one (high, medium or low, ...I tend to leave them on medium, so if I find I need to rush a shot through I can pop that in on high). Once you are happy, click submit in the bottom right corner and it will go off to be batched, you can then load up the Batch Monitor (there is an icon link to it within the client) and see everything chugging along just like you do when you submit from within shake.

I forgot to say, the QMaster client is just called QMaster in the applications folder (...nice and confusing that Apple calls both its client and over-all system the same thing, but yeah, just click that Apple Qmaster icon and drag and drop into the main window there :-)

Hi Neil,
sounds to me like you haven't set up your clusters right (it isn't seeing any nodes/machines to render to). For a quick how-to on setting up QMaster, follow the instructions in the Macworld article (obviously switching on the share/managed boxes in setup to allow rendering for shake)
