Hi Captain
I wrote to you some time ago about making a "HOW TO" on four corner pin using SHAKE.
Have you given it any thoughts about doing one ?
The SmoothCam video was great. For us NEWBIES, Smoothcam and 4 Corner Pin are two of the GET YOUR FEET WET activities we can use with Shake.
I have the 2 & 4 Pin software by Lyric and their tutorial is all inclusive. You know the type, they explain everything. I just want a simple recipe to get a job done, let me follow along and then I can explore the other controls.
Your 3 video selections are great. Have you thought about the 4 corner pin ? I have three projects in front of me where I want to know how to use it, but I'm too thick to figure it out without a lot of time and work...which I have neither.
I bought the BLOX software of DISPLAYS that require 4 corner pinning but they require Adobe After Affects. There is always something. I now own SHAKE and need some help.

Wow. You know, I never NEVER thought these would even be accepted in the Shake community, let alone having people yelling for more. I mean, really all I'm doing is reading from the manual.
But after I had them on MY site and they were shutting me down I asked the cow to host them.
I've got some time off here around Christmas and might go ahead and give it a shot for you. We'll see.
What specific issues are you trying to do? Pin a sign to a moving wall type thing? Static replacement type thing?

Hi Captain
Don't be surprised about the affect your video tutorials are having on us brain dead users.
I don't like "them" (Most tutorial makers) giving me work examples where they explain EVERY CONTROL. I have a job....do the job...show me how you did it so I can get a finished product. Most of us that need the help are only trying something simple. So we don't need the advanced version. Show us how you just do a simple project. Then go and try something more advanced.
That is the reason we want the tutorial because the manual has also explained every control, not a recipe for something simple.
You cut right to the chase...PRESS THIS, GO HERE, DO THAT !!!
Once I see the basic dance steps, I can explore other buttons or controls. KEEP IT SIMPLE the first shot out the gate.
I have a couple of projects I'd like to use.
The storyboard has 2 people talking about a city wide program. In many of the buildings in the city, these programs are being run. So as these people talk, I want to create a fantasy scene where the activity is projected on to the exterior of the building. It seems simple enough, but knowing how to set up the clips, track the corners, get the tracking info so then you can make the movie are simple steps, but impossible when you don't know how. Again, their manual talks about all the controls. I don't need all the controls to do this.
The second is to track on a TV screen sitting in the room, a picture on the wall, a book on the desk....each of these will become objects I'd like to paste a moving clip.....that is job 2
Job 3 is the company 12 Inch Design. They provided several very nice moving animated displays. All you need to do is use 4 corner pin tracking to run your video inside these wonderful frames. Unfortunately, they tell you to use After Affects....OK, if I had After Affects ($$$), and knew how to use it, I might try it. But I have the, now less expensive SHAKE. I'm hoping that it and you can let me use both to make some very pleasing videos.
In fact Captain, I'm sure if you called them, 12 Inch Design and offer a video tutorial on SHAKE to work in their displays, it may mean a paid gig.
Those of us that need the help are the NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK (yuk...sorry) and we need simple how to tutorials to get started, not the advanced version first.
Thanks Captain...what you give away for free, I would buy it.

I know the manual has been mentioned here (and the Capts video tutorials kick major butt :-), but have you had a look at the Shake tutorials that come with the package? The tutorial on page 208 (in the tracking and stabilization section) I think is perfect for you guys, it shows how to corner pin track a sign onto the side of a bus. ...not suggesting you go through and do all the tutorials in that book (like yourselves I had to learn shake on the job and when you're busy the last thing you have is time to spend on running through an in depth tutorial that might not apply to you). Anyway, what you can glean is the info you need to get the job you're doing done, and that tutorial takes you through just what you need to know to do what you are suggesting.
As far as tutorial manuals go, that one is a goody, it has humor sprinkled throughout and yeah, well worth browsing (rather than refering to the reference manuals, which as you say, often go into too much detail about functions you might not touch).
