Shake Trial...

I am playing with the shake trial, and I am following the tutorial, but for some reason, whenever I filein the image sequences, I can't see the images in the viewer or in the node thumbnails, why??

I've not used the trial, so I'm not sure where it actually ends up putting the tutorial information. Not sure it even CARRIES the tutorial information -- but I'd try finding it by clicking on the fileIn node and then down in the parameter's box check the file path... see where it's looking for the file and you can either spotlight the file to find where it really is and then type in it's path -- or you can click on the little FOLDER icon next to the path and go a-hunting by yourself -- or a combination of both.
Maybe someone can confirm that the tutorial material comes along with the trial.

Hi, it has the documentation with the tutorial, and it said to load it inot the $home folder(which is my home folder), but I wasn't sure where that was, so I put it on the desktop. I am able to find the images and bring them into the file, but the images are not showing up once in the node viewer. So it's linking to a file, and when I look at the file through the finder it's there, but not showing up in the image or node viewer. I also tested a photoshop with no luck either.

I am still having no luck with the shake trial, and seeing images, I have tried many things. Like opening from a "script," file import photoshop, and I am beginning to think I should reinstall it

Hi Dan,
that seems very strange, if you create a new file-in node and load in the image you should see something. You have started a fresh script (project) and tried just doing a new file-in within that haven't you? This should work if nothing else, if not I don't really know what could be wrong.
If that does work but you're still having issues within your tutorial script, two things spring to mind, one is that the image/sequence is being loaded into time a bit later than where your currently looking at (this can be checked by clicking the time tab, making sure the show selected only is ticked, ...if your layer is not where your time indicator is, move the layer by grabbing and dragging it). The only other thing is to check the Update setting and make sure its NOT set to manual (on release is good for most things, sometimes you will set it to manual when working on a heavy script).

I agree, I put the documentation files from the Installation disk into the $home/nreal/Tutorial_media... as they asked for, but each time I go to load it in, the element path box turns red, which I assume means can't find element??? Then when I double click on a node it says node error on the bottom right of the screen. Any thoughts?

I haven't got time to go through this right now (will have a look later today when I get a moment), but it does seem to be an issue with it seeing the files (i.e. Shake can't find the files where it expects them to be, they need to be relinked). Forget about the tutorial script for a moment, just create a NEW script and add a file-in node to it, load some footage, and see if that works (i.e. that you can see it in the monitor and get a thumbnail). I just want to see that the basics are working before we sort out your directory structure.

I have tried an MOV, a JPG, an AI, a PSD, and a TIFF from all sorts of different areas of the computer and still have had no luck, I don't understand???

Hmmmm, if you can't load anything up into a new script using the file-in node, then there must be something wrong with the install. Then again, I'm no Shake guru myself (I'm fine if the app is working okay, but not experienced enough to know whats up if things turn all pear shaped like this), ...does one of the moderators have any ideas?...
