new to shake and having problems

is there anyone here who can explain to me how to correct the problem im having viewing images
im using the apple pro training series book for shake 4 and when ever i try to filein an image it doesnt show up in the viewer
and the contextual help message reads "node in error" ive tried relinking but the problem remains

Did you copy all the files off the DVD and onto your HD??

yes , i tried the tutorial files that came with the shake disks as well and the same problem

Well -- what I meant was if the files were ON the dvd they might not be readable by shake.

Hmmm... so... would these maybe be 8bit images? Sometimes you have to force 8 bit.

You are getting the node with the title, but it's red? Is that right?

yes and the image is not showing up ive tried relinking but nothing has worked so far

Did you get this worked out? It might be a permissions thing... You running a mac? Try repairing your permissions. Also -- you've got Shake in your Root Applications folder?

I had the same problem...I solved it by placing the tutorial files in the EXACT folder specified in the manual - in your user folder you will find a folder called 'nreal' (Shake created it when you installed it) Once the Tutorial files are there you should have no problem...
