Canon XH A1 IO HD Component 1080p
by Harald Salaun on Jun 30, 2009 at 11:22:53 pm

Hi!

I'm using the XH A1s Component Out to capture via the AJA IO HD on my MacBook Pro. I'm trying to get a film-look, so i want to capture progressive. What would be the right workflow for that? I'm here in the EU so im sticked to 25 frames. Didn't see any 1080p25 setting on the IO HD. Will it be progressive when i choose 1080p25 on the canon and the 1080i25 setting on the IO HD as an interlaced container for my progressive output of the canon? Btw. do i even get a progressive output at the component out of the XH A1?

Questions over questions! ;)

Many thanx in advance for any help! (And please excuse my bad english!)

The A1 outputs 1080/50i. You can remove the pulldown to get 25p I assume.
After your capture try using Cinema Tools or After effects.

[Harald Salaun] "m here in the EU so im sticked to 25 frames. Didn't see any 1080p25 setting on the IO HD."

thats because the format is technically output is 25i. (or PsF) (welcome to truth in labeling laws)

set your field dominance to none in the timeline and it will play correctly.

Contrary to the other poster - there is no pulldown in the PAL world.

See... that's what you get for assuming! Sorry.
