Extruded Text vs. Type on Text

What is the main difference between these 2? I looked but didn't see anything very differentiating.

Type on text is just that. Rather than have a whole title show at one time it types in one letter at a time. You can either choose to use it or not. Refer to the documentation PDF to understand and use the parameters
