Lens Flare as transition BCC5 FxPlug FCP
by Erik Naso on Aug 30, 2009 at 10:54:52 pm

I have done this with an Avid but cant get the same effect to work with FCP. With Avid I make a 10 frame cut on video track 2 between the clips and drop the lens flare in and it works perfect as a transition. Any suggestions on how to use the Lens Flare as a transition with similar result? I tried overlapping the clip at the tail and adding the effect but that didnt look right. Also tried it in a cross dissolve but dont like the look with the dissolve. The beauty of the Avid technique is the effect has a alpha channel look to it so you can blow out the flare in between the clips for the transition.

Hey Erik,

Below is a link to a pretty good tutorial on how to use a filter as a transition in FCP. I think this may help you.

That worked pretty well. Thanks. Not as easy as it was with Avid but works.

Yea this is a bit trickier to do with FCP. Glad you got a satisfactory result.
