Double-clicking Red project file
by Tech Diver on Apr 3, 2008 at 9:24:58 pm

Is it just my imagination, or was it possible to bring up a Red project file (Boris Red settings file) by double-clicking it in Windows? I thought I once had this capability but now I don't.

Hi,

That should work ... if you are using XP and for some reason it doesn't launch RED automatically when you double-click on a project fine, you should be able to instruct the OS to always launch RED when this type of file is double-clicked. Double-click the project file, assuming it doesn't find RED the OS should ask you what program to use to open the file. Select Browse and navigate to Program Files and then the BorisFX, Inc folder and click on RED - make sure to check the box that states something along the lines of "Always use this program to open this type of file" and you should be all set.

Hope this helps.

Peter.

Yes, double clicking does indeed launch RED. However, it does not pull in the project file automatically. I have to do it manually. Is this the correct behaviour?

That's the way it works on my system too so yes, this is the expected behavior.

Cheers,

Peter.
