While searching the forum I found a four year old querie from Kevin Monahan on the same topic with no answer: "While working in Soundtrack Pro, I get this message after almost ever move I make "Recording Alert - Failure occured when preparing device (null)".
Could anyone please tell me what this alert is and how to cure it?

I can only come up with one suggestion you can give a shot.

Quit SoundtrackPro, trash the preferences for Audio Midi Setup and after that go in to Audio Midi Setup to reset your settings.

Other than that no idea, what does your setup look like?
