streamline audio processing work

Looking for a way to streamline audio processing work.
Just started with a new company and I've taken over the previous guys workflow, which kinda sucks.
We record VO in single lines for use in Flash. So one to two sentences for each slate/take. We roll tape for the whole script. Reads usually take about 30 mins. Then each line has to be cut out from the long take and saved as its own aif file.
The guy recording the VO reads a slate number for each line which makes it a little easier but the cutting and saving is taking forever.
Here is the process I inherited:
1-Record audio into PC using Cuebase LE.
2-Downmix to AIF and transfer to Mac workstation
3-Import AIF into Soundtrack Pro.
-Normalize, FX, Noise etc
4-Highlight a good take and create new audio file
(aka place highlighted chunk into new audio sequence)
5-Save as: Slate# Aif/16/44.1/Dither
6-Return to step 4, repeat.
We are very busy and this takes up way too much time. I have plans to cut out the Cubase and record directly into STP. But I can't make the switchover until X-mas time when things slow down.
I can In/Out edit very quickly in FCP and I'm certain there is an easier way to do this.
Can I use an EDL made in FCP to automate the chopping up of the sound file?

Hi Collin,
Sounds like a labor-intensive process. Obviously, eliminating the first few steps will save boatloads of keystrokes. If you are fast in FCP, you may want to investigate the following:
1. Recording into FCP via the voiceover tool (input is selectable)
2. Trim your selected takes in FCP,
3. Mark a selected take (playhead over the clip, press "x",
2. Look into the FCP function of File -> Send to -> Soundtrack Pro Script. I'm not very familiar with STP's scripting functions, but this could provide the sweetening and export you're looking for in one fell swoop.
As a quick note, if you're in a studio environment and using noise removal, you need to find a way to record cleaner audio.
