Can't select section for reducing nose

Hello,
This is an idiotic question, but I'm working in Soundtrack 2.02, and I can't select a section in the timeline like I used to by just dragging around it. I have two audio tracks from an interview and I'm trying to eliminate traffic hum and I finally razor bladed the section to make a noise print, but then the 'reduce noise' function is grayed out. There's something really simple I'm missing and it's driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Double click on the clip so that the file loads into the clip editor. You can do it there. It is not a real time process; I think it is always grayed out in multi-track
You might also try the noise gate which is real time. Traffic is a pretty variable sound and you may introduce artifacts to the speaker's voice with the noise reduction.
One thing that worked really well for me one time when there was a similar sound on one mic of a two person interview was to add traffic noise to the whole mix very gently in the background. It made for a less sterile sounding program since it was obviously outdoors anyway.
