Making a Piece of Music Sound Like it's coming from speakers

Hi,

I'm using a song in my short film, and I'm trying to make it sound like it is actually coming out of the speakers rather than just sitting on top of the footage. Ideally I'd like to do it without recording the audio from the speakers and edit it in Soundtrack Pro.

A friend of mine did something similar a while ago in Pro Tools, but I can't remember what he used (so that I could attempt the same thing in STP) nor can I get in touch with him as he's currently trotting the globe with a band.

Any help will be much appreciated

Knock off the high and low end of the EQ (with the Channel EQ). Try playing around with the Spectral Filter. Put on an Overdrive. Mix to taste.
