 | Driving "Media Vault 5108" on Snow Leopard ?
by max bretherton on Apr 21, 2011 at 2:00:31 pm |
Hi..
We have a Ciprico Media Vault 5108 and we really need to get running 64bit apps so i've upgraded to 10.6 Snow Leopard. I can now only use the Raid Array via a 10.5 install i still have on an internal drive. But this is just not a viable way to run the studio.
Question is - has anyone successfully found a way to run the array via another PCIe card on Snow Leopard?
Many thanks for help and advice...Max
thanks and my best regards...max

We use 5108 on snow leopard no problem - it is crazy fast!
are you using the v3.4 drivers?

HI Mike..
Thanks for replying to my post...
We are still after a solution to using it on Snow Leopard.
Yep we are using the 3.4 drivers...
I don't understand why it works for you and not for us.
Do you know of anything you did when you upgraded to 10.6 ? order of installing software and attaching the array ?
ours is just pluged into the machine and comes on when the machine boots up.
Thanks for your help...Max

hmm... as i recall when we upgraded from leopard - it worked w/o doing anything - i have since formatted the hard drive and installed snow leopard - reinstalled drivers etc and it worked fine.
when you go to about this mac - more info
does it show up under parallel scsi?

HI Mike..
Thanks for trying to help with this. Sorry for my late response.
I am trying again since you say you have it working.
Installed again on Snow Leopard and i get an error after installation says that
"/System/Library/Extension/bcraid.kext" was installed improperly. I get this message every time. So i have tried copying it frm the installer and pasting it in there myself. No joy. And even copying it from my 10.5 system folder..still no worko.
And "no" the array does not appear under "parallel scsi" in 'about this mac'.
Any chance you could send me your installer for the drivers and i could give that a go. ?
Thanks for your time...Max
Any more thought you can offer.
thanks and my best regards...max

Where did you get the drivers?
I have been working with mine just fine, but over the years I have lost my disc and I'm just curious who supports this unit now?
I am using the original Raidcontrol.app file that I got years ago.
My controller type is the RC5252-08
