After years of good work, my HMV-900 MAX is showing signs of age. On long captures
of uncompressed SD 8 bit clips it simply "clicks" and beeps and the capture stops. It
usually occurs after 6 to 8 minutes of capture, it beeps 6 times (SCSI problem ??) and stops.
I've double-checked the cables and interface and the problem is still there. I'm using
a UL3D card with the latest driver, latest OS (10.4.8) and FCP 5.1.2, G5 dual 2GHz.

Would a newer SCSI card solve the problem? Or am I to look for a new raid?
BTW, I'm in the middle of a BIG 2 hour multicam project...

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Earlier was much better...

Now the raid won't mount, actually it mounts once every 5 trys.
I can view the directory but can't copy from it or to it. I'm in the
middle of a 2 hour show that I have to deliver this Friday... I still
have the projects but looks like I'm loosing the media.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Pierre Tremblay,

First order of business is to secure your data. You've tried but not been completely successful. You might want to try selectively copy of files instead of the entire folder. There might be a bad spot on a drive, and if you selectively copy files it might just copy around the bad spot.

Then you can run the diagnostic if you like to test the disk drives in the HMV. Here is how: http://kb.ciprico.com/lore/article.php?id=236

Or you might have to send the unit in for service. Please give us a call or email support@ciprico.com with the serial number and model number.
