Hello. I have a new imac and Adobe CS 5.5 Production Premium and am looking for a reliable blu ray burner. I'd like to keep the cost under $200, but speed isn't a major concern for me. Does anyone have any recommendations or experience using Encore to burn blu rays on a mac? I need to design menus, so I can't just use toast.

I have found some recommendations for mac-compatible blu ray burners, such as OWC blu ray burners (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MRF8BDSD12X/), however I haven't found anything that says what would work best with Adobe Encore.

I've read that this lacie should work well, but is outside of my budget:

All other info online that I've seen is out of date.

Thanks so much for your help!

I purchased the LG 12x Blu-Ray burner. Don't let the windows compatable throw you, it works fine with Mac. I use it with my MacPro, MacBook Pro and the IMac at my church. I only used Verbatim and Sony Blu-Ray disk.

$150.00 at your local computer store.

Thanks so much! I saw that the LG 6x works with macs as well, so yours looks like a great choice.

Hi Mark,
May I ask what speeds you are getting with encore BluRay burning? I have the Sony BD205 and can only get 1x burn speeds from Encore. I have used Verbatim 2x and 4x BluRay media to no effect.

Thanks for your post. I went out an bought the LG BE12LU38 which doesn't say it is compatible with a MAC, but I am running a iMac with LION and using Adobe Master Collection 5.5 and it worked like a charm. I plugged it in and put a disc in and the MAC recognized it. Awesome, thanks for your post.

Hi Mark

I got an LG Blu-Ray burner (BP40) and want to use it with Encore 5.5 on my MBP. But the drive doesn't show up on the desktop. Am I overlooking something?

Thx

Is the drive showing up in the Macpro system report? Also which connection are you using?

I just ordered a Pioneer burner from Mac Sales. I'll let you know how it works.

Did you get a BluRay burn speed yet? I just got the replacement drive from Videoguys...no dice exactly the same, not recognized over the eSata port and only 1x burn speed.

I'm trying to create a blu-ray image, then burn from Disk Utility to see if I have better luck
