build DVD for massproduction > to disc, vs to Folder
by gunnar Kordestani on Nov 5, 2009 at 4:57:27 am

hi there,

I authored a DVD in Encore CS4 that needs to be copied many times by a DVD copiyng house. I wonder wether I should burn a 'Master' disk for them (> build > disc) or maybe provide a Video TS Folder (> build > Folder).

1. a) In sending a Video_TS folder I see the advantage that I avoid burning errors on my side. What do you guys think about that?

1. b) Encore only creates a Video_TS but no Audio_TS. Should I add an empty one myself to make it complete (Audio is very basic though, only one version)?

2. Any advice on what DVDs to use if I burn a Master Disc myself (brand, type, etc.)

thx

1a Ask them what they want. DVD has alot of error back up capabilities so I wouldn't worry a whole lot.

1b I would include a AUDIO_TS folder but its really not necessary. There were a small handful of players which wouldn't play a disc way back when without it but those days are long gone. But including a AUDIO_TS folder is good practice IMO. An AUDIO_TS folder has nothing to do with your audio - it is/was reserved for the DVD-AUDIO Spec.

2 Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden is all I will ever use.
