Anyone using the Ratco SCSI to Firewire adaptor with a DLT?
by Marc Sparks on May 29, 2009 at 3:16:55 pm

I've heard bad things about using SCSI/USB adaptors in general, as well as people having problems with Encore recognizing their otherwise working DLT drive. But has anyone tried this FR1SX from Ratco?

I have hopes for using this with a DLT7000 in my new system. The FR1SX adapter is supposedly suported in Vista 64 right out of the box, so that means it's pretty up to date. And the DLT7000 is the only Quantum drive specifically listed in Ratco's supported hardware list.

So I'm pretty sure the drive will work. I've just heard Encore can be unreliable in recognizing DLT drives. Any input would be appreciated. I CAN just put in a SCSI board, but I won't be able to get the MoBo/GPU combo I had my eye on, because there wouldn't be room for it.

Did it work? I am in the same boat as you, and was hopping you had success so I can be confident with my purchase.
