OT-Mixing different Frame sizes in a Blu-Ray project
by Warren Eig on May 22, 2008 at 3:21:48 pm

Can you mix different frame sizes and frame rates on one Blu-Ray disc? I'm not talking about them all playing on the same timeline at once, I mean as a demo of short films and commercials. You'd click one from the menu and it may be 1080p 23.98 then return to the main menu. Another is 1080i 29.97 and a third is 720p 23.98, etc.

Can this be done?

TIA,

Warren

Sure Blu Ray will support this. Not sure if Encore will :)

Encore CS3 supports all Blu-ray legal frame sizes and rates on the same disc.

If clips with different frame sizes or rates are put on the same timeline, they'll all be transcoded to the project's default frame size/rate.

Joe,

I recently was making a bluray project and I used a menu from the library along with a motion menu that came with it. The library menu was wide screened (720x480 asp ratio 1.2). I hoped that Encore would encode it (it was a BluRay Project) so the menu would expand to fill the screen. However, the buttons were laid out appropriately, but the motion background covered only about half the screen (center out).
Does this mean that Encore doesn't encode the menus appropriately in the BluRay mode? I noticed that the Library has a few HD menu's which are 1920x1080.
Thanks for your help.
