Can HD project be downconverted and saved as DVD?
by Jan Janowski on Aug 11, 2007 at 2:33:05 pm

All my projects have been NTSC DV projects.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a BlueRay disk and drive array on next computer for HD projects.
(I have CS3PP), but a few questions abound... Since I've no HD background with Encore, I post these as a 100% noob, with hopes of direction...

Let's say........

That I get a HD Camera and edit in HD on PPRO, and export that session to Encore, and Make a BlueRay HD disk, and everything is well and good.

Then someone who doesn't have a Blue Ray or HD Display asks me if I can make a SD DVD of that same program........

I can see this happening.....

Is there anything in place in Encore in CS3 that would allow me to take that HD session, and export it as SD into a DVD for folks who do not have HD compatability? (In other words, I'd then have 2 masters, a HD BR version, and a SD DVD version.

Logic tells me this may not be possible......

Thanks for your posts...

Hi Jan,

Yes, you can author once and then export to Blu-ray, SD DVD, and Flash all from the same session.
