so let me get this straight

Okay so BPAV files are acually MP4's wrapped in the BPAV format and when i convert to mxf that is actually re wrapping the mp4 in a mxf wrapper.

The Bpav will not play on PC? but will play on mac?
the MXF will play on PC?

is that right?

BPAV is a folder that contains all the metadata.

MP4 should NEVER be separated from the BPAV.

The entire BPAV is generally needed to re-wrap the MP4 to either MXF or MOV

Some NLEs can use the metadata and the MP4 directly. Premiere Pro can. Final Cut Pro can with the Calibrated Software plugin.
