Apple vs SxS cards

I've seen the threads about Macbookpro, but what about MACPRO w/ Snow Lep?
Are there compatibility issues there as well?
I'm about to make a Large investment for my Prod Co.
EX1 cam, MACPRO Quad w/ FC Studio.
I cant stand the Pan 170/200 P2 cams! I'd hate to make a sacrafice because of some silly compatibility issue.

Help!?

MacPro with Sony SxS to USB reader works fine with Snow Leopard. It's the MacBookPro (laptop) with built in Express slot that's having problems.
