XDCAM Clip Browser Won't Open
by Joe Crump on May 10, 2008 at 5:05:12 am

This seems like a basic problem, but I can't get the clip browser that came with my EX-1 to open.

It installed fine and confirmed that it installed. When I go to "applications" it's there. When I double click on the app file, I get an error message saying.

"You can not open the applications XDCAM EX Clip Browser.app because it is not supported on this architecture."

I'm running it on a G5 Quad Mac.

Incidentally, I took the disk over to my PC and installed it and it works fine on the PC - but I'm using FCP and need to use it on my Mac.

Anyone have any ideas?

[Joe Crump] "Anyone have any ideas?"

Yep. The Sony Clip Browser only works with Intel Macs. Sorry. The Sony Transfer Tool, however, is a universal app that works on both Intel and PowerPC Macs. The Sony Transfer Tool is the app that FCP uses to transfer the XDCAM EX files, not the Clip Browser
