import files that straddle two cards

how do you import files to fcp using the xdcam viewer/importer that when shot, straddled two cards? in the viewer they say they are .smi files, although the folder that contains the clip has the mp4 and other files in it.

It happens automatically when you import the media using the transfer tool. Or at least is does for me. We simply import from the first card, then from the next, and the software automatically configures the split clip as a single file.
