Hello -
I recently moved to CO and are trying to get my foot in the door as a freelance Editor. I have worked with Avid systems for the last 10 years but see that most shops here in Denver are FC. I am trying to see about taking classes to learn FC, how different is FC from Avid and what is the learning curve? Also - what are the Freelance rates going for here in Denver?
Thanks for any answers!

Hi,
As a former tape editor that moved to NLE editing, I recommend buying a system if you can afford one.
Reason #1, Best way to learn FC is jump in and use it every day. If you an occasional freelance user, you will never be as good as the everyday user, and you are competing against them in the job market.
Reason # 2, With money for full time jobs drying up and system prices continuing to drop, more people are freelancing out of their home. Your missing out on those jobs if you don't have a system.
