My freehand mask is showing up black
by Gary Gates on Oct 19, 2009 at 10:15:00 pm

Im sure this is something minor, but it has been a while since I have used combustion extensively. I am trying to get back into it, and for a project at work, I need the ability to mask out particles, to give the illusion of a trailing path of lava erupting from a volcano. I've drawn a mask, but when I go to the top of my branch, the mask is black. When I am at the mask level, everything looks exactly how I want. What could be causing this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Can you post a screen grab of the schematic or workspace?

Under Mask Controls, what mode are you using? Add, Subtract, intercept or replace? Is the mask inverted? How many mask layers do you have?...if you have multiple masks, their modes are inter-related to each other.
Just some thoughts for you.

Do remember that the mask controls need to be specified with the "Freehand Mask" selected, not the Draw Mask operator. I still forget that when using Paint & Mask.
