parallels and combustion

Hi...

Since I find I often have to edit in FCP...

But Combustion seems to run best under XP....

Anyone ever run it under Parallels on the Mac?

I can see the codecs being an issue as much of what FCP has is not available on the windows Quicktime side. So it would likely involve a fair amount of Image sequences as intermediates...

Other than that, how does it behave?

Alex

Are you sure about the codecs? I know that Apple finally released the ProRes decoder for Windows. What other codecs are there that are Apple specific?

Hi Eric...

Well DVCProHD comes to mind, of course you can use Ray Light for that.
What about XDCam formats?

I think it's best to stick with targa sequences and lots of storage. Storage is cheap, even RAID 5.

Perhaps create a Linux server or something that both platforms can see and store project data there.

Hope you're doing well, haven't seen you in years. :-)

Hey Phil...

Thanks for the good wishes.
Things could be better, but I'm trucking along down here.

Mostly editing and some motion graphics.

All freelance at this point.

What about you?

Alex

Been studying online to expand my A/V skills. Might be up for some work soon.:-) Been doing a fair amount of audio projects, mostly experimental stuff, but good training in foley, sound design, and mixing. Too many people forget how important sound is for motion pictures.

All the best.
