Combustion (OsX) crashes loading footage

Hello brothers and sisters in arms,
I'm getting a very annoying error in Combustion: if I try to load a workspace created in another machine (with other file path for the footage I used) the application doesn't give me the chance to replace the footage and crashes.
I already tried to erase preferences files and to put the workspace in the same folder where the footage is. Didn't work.
If I have the original file path mounted on my desktop over the network it won't crash.
What should I do to force Combustion to let me reconnect/replace the media like it used to do ?
Specs as follows:
MacPro 2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
ATI Radeon X 1900
4 GB RAM
Mac Os X 10.5.6
Combustion 4.0.5.5031
Combustion 2008 .0.0.5049
Should I go to PC? They say it's more stable...
Should I go to Digital Fusion? They say it's smarter already

Hi Alexandre!
First make a backup of the original workspace!
Hmm - if you can load the composition with network path mounted - I would try to load with mounted network path and then replace the footage inside combustion and resave...
-> Maybe it also helps to import the workspace and resave.
If that doesn't help you can take a look at the .cws file with a texteditor and change the footage path with search/replace...
If you than still have trouble I could take a look at your .cws file if you like...

At this point Toxik is not a direct replacement for Combustion. Toxik is a very powerful node-based compositing application, but lacks Combustion's motion graphics tools and particle system. After Effects is Combustion's closest replacement, unfortunately.

Boys, it's the "Host.ini"! After several breakdowns concerning this problem, I found an old remark I made on my system. I still don't know which item in this database causes the crash, but when I kick it in the trash, my problem is solved temporarely. Not for long, but I can access my footage again for a few times.
