We are using vista with combustion 4 here and I have notice it completely screws up the "thumbnail viewer", in that, when we try to import footage (after already doing), it does not remember the last location, it start back on the local computer every time. The same goes for opening files. Also, if you try to use the pull down memory locations, it crashes immediatley. I tried combustion 2008
and it has the same issues. I am wondering if anyone is using
vista/combustion without these issues.

Hi Phil,

I have 2008 installed on Vista Ultimate and I'm not seeing these issues. Anyone else experiencing this?

Based on the previous replies, my first guess would be a video card/driver issue...

I'm using Vista 64 and I can't get particles to work properly...no problem in XP 64. New video card (ATI HD 4850) new video drivers...even rolled back a version.
Neither C4 or 2008 particles work right.

Anytime I click on the particles operator, it almost freezes for a few minutes and then you get a gray viewport...no way to see your emitter.

I'm hating Vista on so many different levels. Just one little example...my wacom tablet won't work according to my settings unless I set my mouse to be left handed. I've tried everything (in the tablet settings and in Vista's pen and tablet settings). People say, it must be this...or it mus be that. Strange that I NEVER had these kinds of issue in either XP or XP Pro 64. I'm seriously thinking about going through the hassle of replacing Vista and installing XP 64 instead (then having to re-install everything over again).
This new system is a Dell and I couldn't even update the drivers to the video card that came with it. Vista has been one big freakin headache.

In my experience it fully deserves all the criticism it's received. The fancier they try to get, and the more they try to make it secure, the more they guff it up for the end user
