I havent used this program in several years so I dont know if its me, my PC(resolution, vista) either way I cant seem to find a solution. I am following the "writing a logo with light" tutorial and I have done it and when I set the viewport to "draft" i get a perfect working version now when I set it to preview I get a white screen for the first 30frames and then frame 32 the particles appear without the background heres a few snapshots.
I've tried rendering our in colour+alpha and colour as a targa sequence and all I get is what the first screenshot is giving me nothing for the first 30frames and then black/white particles with no background footage.
my resolution is: 1680x1050 and i have a highspec machine so this shouldnt effect anything :( anyhelp much appriciated and thanks,
adam

Where does this tutorial come from? Can you post your workspace file? Off the top of my head, the only thing I can think of is that you might want to try different OpenGL settings in Combustion and see what happens. i.e. If you are using hardware, switch to software or vice versa.
I'm a contractor for Autodesk at the moment but, unless otherwise stated, all opinions expressed here are my own.

What version of Combustion are you using? There was an issue in previous versions that would cause white frame issues. Also what if you make your input footage for the particles square (1680x1680). From the Combsution 4.0.3 Updater Readme:
Particles Operator • A white rectangle no longer appears in the viewport when viewing a result 2K composite with particles in a viewport in a view mode other than OpenGL.
• Combustion can now render greater than 1K workspaces with particles with the following settings: (a) Rendering is set to Software (in the Settings controls of the Composite Controls panel), and (b) Use Software OpenGL is enabled (in the Combustion Preferences dialog, under the General OpenGL options).

I cant seem to get it to work, Am getting an error that I never noticed before it says "the maximum size for the footage is 1024, this means it will be transparent" if this is true then I could render the particles out seperate but when I do they seem to be black/white no colour even though I set it to alpha+colour.
What I dont understand is why the program supports the project size of HD and can import HD footage but it wont render it?
I have other things I want to do aswell with particles but not if they going to be white. Also am using combustion 4.0
