I'm having a real problem rendering from Combustion 4 to Quicktime: when I try to access 'options' in the render menu Combustion crashes with no more than 'Combustion has encountered an error...'.
I have a Dell Precision 690 Quad Core with a Fire GL V7350 graphics card.
Any ideas anybody?
Cheers, Jan

There are a lot of posts like this lately. No real solution has been posted. Are you using the latest version of c*? Perhaps roll-back to the previous version and see if that fixes it.. I'm in the middle of a project and haven't upgraded to 4.5 yet, and I'm not seeing these problems (most of my workflow is Avid Quicktime in, render to Avid Quicktime out)..

hmm...no further on then i guess - i'm still on combustion 4, perhaps i'll try upgrading to 4.5...what i didn't mention was that i also have bluefish installed (or half installed, as i wait to get new card) - does anyone have any experience of this? jan

I was going to mention that if you have extra codecs installed on your box that it may cause problems. Definitely try uninstalling the Bluefish drivers and see if that is the problem. If so, then you can talk to Bluefish about it. I have some ongoing issues with my Blackmagic drivers and Combustion.

I had a nasty feeling that might be it...I'll give it a go, only problem being that the only time i'd ever render to quicktime is to make a bluefish file! catch 22 eh? i'll give it a go, cheers, jan

If you are on Windows I'd think the Bluefish should support some type of avi file for real time playback. If it is the problem be sure to contact them.
2. Go to Edit/Preferences/Quicktime Preferences/Advanced.
3. Under Video, change from Direct X to Safe Mode (GDI only)
4. Close the QT Player, then launch Combustion and in the Render menu, pick Quicktime under Format, then click the Options button. It should work now.
I've seen this problem twice -- once a few months ago, and now just a couple of days ago. Most recently, it occurred after I'd both installed a new version of Quicktime AND installed new Nvidia graphics drivers for my video card (EVGA 7800 GT.) I think it's a combo Combustion/Quicktime bug with Direct X, so try the above and let everyone know if it works for you.

Hi! Anyone found any solution on this problem? I have the exact same problem.
I've two workstations on my work. One older Win Xp 32bit system and one newer 64bit system. Of course I can only render on the older one. Very annoying. Hoping for a solution.
