memory limit in combustion 4 XP

I just upgraded the memory on my machine from 4gb to 8, just to discover that Combustion will only use 3975.88mb, even at 100%.
The operating system xp-64 will recognize all full 8 gigs but it seems as if there is a limit as to what combustion wants to work with. Any ideas on how to work with more ram?

Not sure - I tried the combustion demo on my mate's Mac Pro, but I didn't check to see if more RAM was available. I'll have to look next time I'm over.

Autodesk just came out with 64bit versions of 3ds Max and Maya this past year...before that, there were the same RAM limitations. All 32 bit applications are constrained to a 4GB limit.
I personally think this is one reason Combustion hasn't seen a recent upgrade. Like 3ds Max, I think they HAVE to produce a 64bit version sooner rather than later. It takes a long time to do a re-compile, though.
Are there any other 64bit compositors on the market? Combustion 5 would be the first one if my hunch turns out to be correct. If this is the case, then I think it would result in a huge boost for Combustion sales, at least til AE does the same. Perhaps that is what is going on with Shake. They are likely going to have to recreate it as a 64bit application, and just couldn't pull it off with it's current structure.
Like Max, I also think Combustion 5, during the re-compiling process will probably get some streamlined code to boost overall perfomance.
Unleashing 4-8 CPU's with 2-8GB's of RAM each will make Combustion a different creature than what we have known, and will narrow the difference between the Desktop segment and the systems like Flame and Inferno. Especially with the emergence of Solid State Hard Drives (using Flash Memory).
With one Solid State HD holding your CG programs, and a Raptor HD(10,000 RPM's) containing video footage...that would make a 64bit Combustion 5 one serious performer.
