Hello,

I have a problem with opening workspaces , it takes a huge amount of time.

Any ideas ? Configuration hasn't been changed since weeks, and i worked with it yesterday fine. Nothing changed, not that i know of.

Greetz,

Hi,

Are your files local or on a network?

As a test create a new composite and then try to import the workspace you are having problems with and see if it imports normally or does it take as long as when you open it.

Are you an a network?

If the footage local?

How doyou have drives mapped?

I'm no expert here....but I think this might effect things...

Check the Task Manager to see if some other process is hogging the CPU.

That's the most common cause of the symptoms you describe, and it's often a web browser or e-mail app that's the culprit.

i had the same trouble when i worked on a network or/and external drive and saved projects on that drive. after disconnecting that drives combustion took a long time until i could open an other workspace. did you disconnect any drives after storing or rendering on that?

I have the same problem. If you have big image sequences particularly if they are on networked drives then loading takes forever. For instance, I've got two identical dual xeon machines, a given comp will reference several live action layers (very large avi files) from one machine and several Tiff or targa sequences from the other. Load time on the machine with the local avi files is terribly long. Load time on the machine with the local sequences is normal. Moral is try to keep all files local if possible. Combustion seems to double check sequences or something before importing. Speaking of which just opening the sequences in Import Footage on the remote machine takes way too long.
