Wanted to know if anyone could tell me how to add a line to a doc in Adobe Indesign CS4.
What I mean is if I am design a cover sheet to be fax for someone and i write the word date and then want to put a dark line next to it to write one how do I do this??/

Use the tabs feature.

Type "date" and then press the tab key.
Now, goto the "Type>Tabs" menu
In the little box that appears, first click once above the number to set a tab position. Next, in the "Leader:" box type the character you wish to proceed your tab, in this case an underscore "_" and then press the tab key again. Now you can drag your tab position (the little arrow) along the ruler to set the length of your line.

It is still text. Highlight the section you want with your text tool and change the color to the black swatch.

What I am design in Adobe Indesign is a cover letter for a fax and when I have words like Date one the cove letter i want to put a black line in front of the word so that when i print it the person can write on it. I did it once but for got how to
