I need to make a 16:9 video. Essentially I need to bring a couple of 4:3 clips into a 16:9 window, shrink them and play them side by side with titles etc...

So I create a matrox widescreen project and bring in my 4:3 matrox clips....The problem is when I import footage the RTX100 will only display the video clips in it's native aspect ratio. i.e, when displayed on a 16:9 monitor they are the wrong aspect ratio (stretched out)... Even if you change the interpret footage parameters the output does not change on the TV monitor (tho it does change and display correctly in the preview monitor). Interpret footage has no effect on the viewing of the picture - this is wrong. I have tried scaling using the abobe 'motion' effect and also the matrox basic DVE effect with the same results. Interpret footage works on all imported graphics, even titles, but not on matrox video footage - how odd.

I tried exactly the same process in a widescreen DV project (not using the matrox card) and the widescreen process works, it displays the video correctly (the same clips as I used before). However when you use the matrox it seems that it cannot display video in anything but it's native aspect ratio. Sure I could edit the project in native DV, but that kinda defeats the purpose of having the Matrox card.

Does anyone know of a workaround??? I cannot beleive that this bug exists when Matrox specifically have a 'widescreen' setting on their options.

thanks

Karl

Ah, it seems if i apply a matrox pan and scan to the clip, and then use the motion controls I can do the widescreen thing - horrar....

would be nice if the matrox DVE window displayed 16:9 when working in a widescreen project.

Hi there,

Try the Matrox Pan and Scan effect. It will allow you chnage the aspcet ratio of each clip
